The Brown Five - 12/5/07

The Brown Five is a daily breakdown of five stories that Brown stumbled upon and cause his eyebrows to raise up a bit. This probably won't be daily because Brown has the attention span of a...hey look! A bicycle..

1) Varejao is a BobCav!
Huh? Anderson "Sideshow Bob" Varejao signed an offer sheet with the Charlotte Bobcats, but he did it so he could play with the Cavaliers. Right. Apparently, he signed a decent enough deal to be matched by the Cavs and they're going to do it, so because of that he signed in Charlotte to play in Cleveland. I hate this kind of contract stuff. It's why the trade calculation machine at ESPN.com exists...no one understands it.

2) Travis Henry Wins!
I didn't think it was possible, but someone won an appeal against the NFL. He successfully overturned his one year suspension by filing a lawsuit against the leage contending it violated its own testing procedures. It's good news for the Denver in that it gives them one more running back in their platoon.

3) This guy is fucking crazy
Proof that you need to look a little past numbers. Statistician David Berri has decided that Andrew Bynum is better than Kobe Bryant right now, and Bynum should be the one demanding a trade: Bryant for Jason Kidd straight up. I really don't know how to explain this, so I'll just link the article.

4) Billy King was fired, now what?!
Rumor is now, they're going to get rid of Mo Cheeks. Cheeks is in the final year of his contract, and hasn't received any assurance he's gonna continue his job. My prediction? He's so gone.

5) The Mitchell Report, look for it this Christmas!
The biggest comedy is that all these moves that happen during the winter meetings might blow up in people's faces when the players' names show up on the report.

Trade Alert!!

Jeezum Christ, the first big blockbuster trade has happened.

Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis are being traded to Detroit for Cameron Maybin, Andrew Miller, a catcher and three minor leaguers.

Good. God.

Cabrera's a 24 year old phenom. He's a little overweight, but his numbers sure do make up for it. His bat in a lineup that has Sheffield, Magglio, Granderson, Guillen, and Polanco? Holy crap.

Willis was second in the Cy Young voting 2 years ago. He's tailed off a bit these past years, but he's probably been beaten by the Marlins trading everyone or letting a guy like Girardi go, or just always being on the trading block. He does get to be caught by Pudge who was catching Willis during his best years, don't count that out.

The Marlin's, well only time is gonna tell. The old adage always says "don't trade the young provens for the unprovens", but in the case of Florida that's rebuliding completely, this is actually a pretty good move. From what I read, these prospects are pretty solid and promising.

This marks the exit of every single player from the Marlins World Series win.

What does it mean for the Rangers? Shit if I know. I'm starting to wonder if Jon Daniels forgot about the winter meetings or something.

Big Pimpin up in the Sky

Just a short little thing here. Southern rapper Pimp C was found dead today. He was famous for being a part of the rap group UGK. He was one of the many people who came out of the South Texas music scene. That DJ Screw and Houston rap scene we all love or hate so much. His biggest hit was when he was featured on Jay Z's Big Pimpin. He is survived by his partner Bun B, but totally not in a gay way.

Power is in the Eye of......

Here we go. 4th quarter of the season. The playoff picture is starting to take shape. Two teams are in, New England and Dallas. A couple more could clinch this weekend. The division winners are almost a lock in most of the divisions, so before we look at this weeks rankings, lets take a gander at who the players are still in the playoff. First, the AFC

Division Front Runners (games in front) (1/2 games mean they hold the tie breaker)

East - New England 12-0 (a billion)

North - Pittsburgh 9-3 (2 1/2)

South - Indianapolis 10-2(2 1/2)

West - San Diego 7-5 (2)

Playoff Hopefuls

Jacksonville (8-4)
Tennessee (7-5)
Cleveland (7-5)
Buffalo (6-6)

Now there are some teams at 5-7 that could get in the mix if they win a couple more games, but right now these are the teams in the AFC. I like Jacksonville and Cleveland to surge forward.

NFC

East - Dallas 11-1 (3 1/2)

North - Green Bay 10-2 (4)

South - Tampa Bay 8-4 (3)

West - Seattle 8-4 (2)

Playoff Hopefulls

New York Giants 8-4
Arizona 6-6
Detroit 6-6
Minnesota 6-6

Then you have a BUNCH of teams at 5-7 that are still very much alive. Despite the Giants and there soon to be monumental free fall, they are pretty much in. If Minnesota keeps playing well, they are my pick to go as well, but don't count out Arizona, they don't have to play ANYBODY these last 4 weeks.

So with that little tidbit, here goes this weeks "power" ranking. Again the rating are based on how well this team would fair against a yetti who just had a condom full of coke explode in his belly.

The Opps I Crapped My Pants Tier

32. Miami Dolphins 0-12 - Really? that big of a loss to the Jets? Really

31. San Francisco 49ers 3-9 - They got rocked by the Panthers. Nice.

30. Atlanta Falcons 3-9 - Joey Blue Skis, Byron Leftwich, and now Chris Redman. Wow.

The "We are one good draft and few key free agents away" Tier (no your not)

29. New York Jets 3-9 - Can you really feel good about beating the Dolphins?

28. Carolina Panthers 5-7 - really sad that this team still has a shot at the playoffs.

27. Houston Texans 5-7 - Man, you get Andre Johnson back then you lose Shaub for the rest of the year. Good news is that Defencive front line is starting to really look good.

26. Kansas City Chiefs 4-8 - Starting to not look good for Herm. He might be on the way out. And that makes me sad.

Bad Records, but decent teams, could play spoiler the rest of the year tier

25. Philadelphia Eagles 5-7 - I still think McNugget is done as a QB for this team next year, but they might have won last week if he were in there, or if someone would have told Feeley that Tatupu wasn't on his team.

24. Oakland Raiders 4-8 - Two weeks in a row? Look at you!

23. St. Louis Rams 3-9 - When this team has S. Jax, they are a for real team. Even with the headbutt.

22. New Orleans Saints 5-7 - Will you now believe me that Sean Payton is not that "boy genius" that everyone made him out to be last year? A double reverse when you have the lead late in the 4th? Are you fucking kidding me?

The Bad Teams still holding on to playoff dreams Tier

21. Baltimore Ravens 4-8 - I can totally see Ed Reed and Ray Ray Lewis preforming a "code red" on their head coach.

20 Denver Broncos 5-7 - As soon I think, "You know what? Maybe i was wrong about Jay Cutler, he might have something." He goes and proves I was right all along. There is still time with this guys, but damn.

19. Cincinnati Bengals 4-8 - Lost to Pitt, but they now have San Fran and STL next. If they win both, then there might be some "whoooeeeewwwwwooooo" about them.

18. Washington Redskins 5-7 - Man, on a day where you thought they might have some good Carma, racing man Gibbs farts and falls down.

17. Chicago Bears 5-7 - The Cannon played much better than ol' Eli, but then couldn't come out with a win. Tis a shame.

The What, We really have a shot at playoffs? Tier.

16. Detroit Lions 6-6 - That makes 4 in a row they have dropped. They need to now win out to have Kitna's prediction come true. yea, good luck with that.

15. Buffalo Bills 6-6 - Trent Edwards or JP Losemen? Its this years Joey Blue Skies or Daunte Cullpepper.

14. Arizona Cardinals 6-6 - I really hope this team makes it. Don't know why, but they seem to just be wild ass enuf to do it.

13. New york Giants 8-4 - Had they not pulled that win over Chi town out of their ass, this team would be in full out panic mode. If Brandon Jacobs comes back that will help, but with D.Ward out, and if Jacobs doesn't play, Loss.

First Round of playoff loss is like getting a tug job only to have to finish yourself tier.

12. Minnesota Vikings 6-6 - This team is making some noise. Purple Jesus is back, Travis isn't sucking too bad. I'm not sayin', but I'm just sayin'.

11. Tennessee Titans 7-5 - I know we all love making fun of Rain Man Jones, but if he was on this team, they might be a top 5 team.

10. Cleveland Browns 7-5 - As soon as Brown and I jump on this band waggon, they lose. W.T.F.

9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 8-4 - These guys start the other McCown, and still win. Still wondering where Chris is these days. Is he even on the team?

Dangerous First Round Teams

8. Seattle Seahawks 8-4 - A lot of people are writing this team off as a pretender. Not me. They have a solid D, and a decent passing game. That means they can stay in any game. That's what you don't want to go against during the playoffs.

7. San Diego Chargers 7-5 - Shot at the Super Bowl? Nope. Shot at upsetting someone big? You bet.

6. Jacksonville Jaguars 8-4 - If I were New England, this is the team front the AFC i don't want to play. They are built for cold weather with good D and one hell of a running game.

The Don't forget about us, we are damn good too tier

5. Pittsburgh Steelers 9-3 - After the bad loss to the jets, they had 2 bad weather games and won them both, don't know what all the means, but we will find out a lot this weekend when they play New England.

4. Green Bay Packers 10-2 - They lost to the boys, but they did show some good fight. Might be a little bit different if they had KGB and Woodson, but we will never know. On a side note, good to see Scott Shap, former lead singer of creed is still working as the back up to Brett Farve. Wait, that's Aaron Rodgers? Really?

3. Indianapolis Colts 10-2 - The sleeping giant of the group. Hard to underrate the defending champs, but they might be a tad underrated.

The Top of the Heap

2. Dallas Cowboys 11-1 - I still can't believe how good this team is. I love it, but there is just something that doesn't feel right. Dammit i hope i am wrong.

1 New England Patriots 12-0 - Not worthy of their own tier anymore. 2 close wins will do that. They may not lose in the regular season, but I bet they don't win it all.

So that's it for this week. Good times. Keep it real and take it easy. Brown is mad at me cuz I'm so sexy, just saying.

-Big

What's in a system?

I was watching ESPN's "College Football Live" yesterday while running, and they had an interview with June Jones, head coach of the University of Hawai'i. The main comment that he had that made me furrow my brow was in regards to Colt Brennan versus Tim Tebow for the Heisman.

I don't have the quote ready, but it went something like this:
You call Colt Brennan a system quarterback, but I disagree. Colt Brennan is an NFL ready quarterback. Tim Tebow is a system quarterback and wouldn't crack the starting line up at my school.
Whoah. That is the definition of a hot sports opinion.

Now, Jesse Palmer's thoughts aside, I'm going to play devil's advocate here and allow for the discussion in the comments.

Arguments for Colt Brennan:
-He's a better quarterback than Timmy Chang ever was, so I don't think this is the "Kliff Kingsbury and Graham Harrell" kind of argument.
-He's consistently delivered year after year in Honolulu.
-(According to Jones) he has the ability to run any kind of system, be it running, throwing, pro style, spread, west coast, etc.
-He has won games for his team when they weren't supposed to win.

Arguments against Tebow:
-He's got spotlight because he plays in Florida. Any other school, and he's Jevan Snead.
-Urban Meyer's system allows for quarterbacks to succeed while running the ball AND using the spread: Omar Jacobs at BGSU, Alex Smith at Utah, Tim Tebow at Florida
-Tebow can not run a pro style offense, or any offense that requires precision passing

Some "instant feedback" on ESPN had some questions that made you think:
"How come when Brennan is called a system quarterback it's okay, but calling Tebow a system quarterback isn't allowed?"
"If the Heisman is solely based on stats and records, doesn't it have to go to Brennan?"
"East Coast bias rears its ugly head again".

For the record, I think Tebow is a bad mother fucker, and I think June Jones might have had some bad lomi lomi salmon or something. However, after being immersed in Hawai'i football for weeks on end, I gotta tell you, Brennan does look like a lot more than "just a system" guy.

Discuss in the comments or at the coffee pot.

The Brown Five - 12/4/07

The Brown Five is a daily breakdown of five stories that Brown stumbled upon and cause his eyebrows to raise up a bit. This probably won't be daily because Brown has the attention span of a...hey look! A bicycle..

1) That's the collective "Shit" from the rest of the NBA you hear.
Turns out Tim Duncan is okay and not seriously hurt. I'm not someone who really wishes for people to get injured (except for maybe seeing Big fart and fall down) but a no-Tim Duncan spurs is a lower hurdle for Dallas. Speaking of Dallas, they ended their losing skid by beating the Bulls last night. Take a look at the standings, yes, my eyebrows are up because the Katrina bees are winning.

2) Does the BCS really matter?
I've tempered a bit on college football these days, more because I see it for what it is. Minor league NFL, and a money making venture for school. Don't kid yourself and believe Big in thinking that the bowls have some kind of meaning. The only reason bowls exist are for schools to make money, NOT because of any other reason. That's why there is not playoff. My question is, who gives a shit if you don't make a BCS game? Does anyone but OSU and LSU get a chance at a national championship? No. The only bonus? Money. The BCS doesn't matter because the schools that need money never make it.

3) The 76ers make the best move in awhile.
Billy King is gonna be fired today. Ahhh, a team in Philadelphia pulls its head out of its ass and realizes there is more to life than futility and borderline mentally retarded trades. They are supposed to announce the hiring of Ed Stefanski, GM of the Nets. A little suprising to nab a division rival's current GM, a good GM at that, but so much the better.

4) I hate blaming refs for stuff...
but, come ON! Did anyone watch the game between the Ravens and Patriots? It's a little too suspicious when the Patriots keep getting second life over and over and over on ticky tack penalties on the Ravens. Look at the tuck rule, look at at Willie McGinest "temporarily injured" to stop a Colts drive. I'm not insinuating anything, but if the NFL knows that a team is going to generate loads of money by going undefeated, maybe a call here or there to keep things going isn't too crazy.

5) Watch the Nationals
Dmitri Young, Lastings Milledge, and Elijah Dukes are going to be on the same team. Oh. My. God. THIS is a reality show I'd watch.

Brown's Nightmare

I'm not kidding when I say that I see this face when I'm sleeping at night and wake up in chills and afraid of rape.

I can't believe I used to like the Steelers. This had to be Ben Roethlisberger's idea.

BSC, it has their cake, and eats it too

Well, well, well. Another college football Saturday, another crazy ass day. I have been ranking teams and telling you, the sexy reader, what each team should do to get in the championship game, and boy have I been wrong.

I thought Ohio State would lose to Mich, didn't happen. I thought West Virginia would win out, didn't happen. I thought Oregon would ride Dixon to the champ game, didn't happen. I don't mind being wrong. While it doesn't make me look good, it does allow me to think about things i haven't thought of yet, and formulate new thoughts. What i don't get is how LSU AND Ohio State are in the big one.

Ok there are 3 schools of thought out there for ranking college football. There is the record only people. These people are the ones that say Ohio State is 11-1 and therefore has to be the best in the nation. That's cool, I get it. I don't agree, but I get it.

Now there is the people that take the team A beat team B, and if need be team B beat team C, there for team A is best. These are the people that have LSU in the big game. Again, I understand this point as well.

The last group of people are what i like to call "pollsters." These are the peeps that will drop a team that loses at least 4-7 spots in the polls, no matter when they lost or how they lost, or who they lost too. These are the same people who it takes a BIG win over a BIG team to move up the polls if there is 2 teams with the same record. These people probably think Georgia or VaTech should be in the game, and they also are the ones that would most DEF put in Ohio State. These people are shit heads. I don't understand them at all.

Now, if a perfect world all three of these groups would pan out and be weighted equally, and the 2 of the best teams would play for the National Championship.

Then we come to this year. I think that we got probably the "safest" two teams this year. I don't really have a problem with it. I know more people will watch with LSU and OSU. More people will go to the game. Its good times.

This is what i don't understand, and what i don't like. Ohio State is in cuz its got the best record of a major conference team, but LSU got in because they are the "strongest team" from the "strongest conference" despite having 2 losses. These are 2 massively different reasons for teams to be have a chance to play for a national title. Neither one of them makes since if they are taken out of context. Let me explain.

If we are going to by record. Then its Hawaii and OSU/Kansas.

How would be choose who got to play between OSU and Kansas?
Well, OSU won its conference with out a Conference championship game, and Kansas finished 2nd in its conference without playing in its conference game.

Edge OSU, but really slight.

The one loss? OSU lost to the UN RANKED at the time Illinois, Kansas lost to the number 5 ranked Missouri.

Edge Kansas.

But how did the team that they lost too finish the season, that might be better now once we look at the big picture. Well Illinois is ranked 13th, Missouri is ranked 6th.

Edge still Kansas.

I'm not saying that Kansas is better than Ohio State, but if you were going by just record, Kansas might be slightly favored over OSU, and most deff over LSU.

But that's not the way we pick who gets to play. We take all that and put in our own opinions on who is truly the best teams in the land. That's how LSU got in. They jumped 3 teams when they barlery, beat Tenn this last weekend. I get it, they play in the hardest conference in all of football. They never lost in regulation, they only times they lost were in triple overtime( i fucking hate that argument, they still lost.)

Here is my problem, LSU's 2 losses were to unranked teams at the end of the year. When they lost to Kentucky they were ranked, but we have since seen what kind of team they are. When they lost their 2nd game to an unranked Arkansas team, they dropped to number 6 in the BCS, behind Missu(lost),WVU(lost), Ohio St(idle), Kansas(idle) and Virginia Tech(beat #11 BC). Now tell me how a win over #16 is better than a win over #11? I can see it being worth jumping the teams that didn't play, but how can a voter who voted LSU below VT last week, say the win over Tennessee is a better win than the VT win over Boston College? I don't' get it.

Its almost like the voters are saying,"SEC, we are sorry about the whole Auburn thing a couple of years ago. Here is gift for ya." It makes me sick.

The problem with the BSC isn't the picking the 2 teams, its how. There is no real rhyme or reason. Fuck, just let me know and i will be cool with it. Don't tell me its the best record for one them, and then the team we like the best for the other one.

You ask me who the best 2 teams in college football are? Oklahoma and USC. Those are the two teams that are the most complete and they only reason they aren't in are because of Injury's. Fuck it.

I will do a full blown Bowl preview later in the week, so stay tuned.

The Brown Five - 12/3/07

The Brown Five is a daily breakdown of five stories that Brown stumbled upon and cause his eyebrows to raise up a bit. This probably won't be daily because Brown has the attention span of a...hey look! A bicycle..

1) BCS Chaos
Well, shit. Illinois gets in, and everyone is bitching about Kansas jumping Missouri. Ohio State gets to have its doors blown off by an SEC team again. Georgia is gonna expose Hawaii for the frauds they are. I'm most interested in the OU and West Virginia game. UWV got it's pants pulled down by Pitt, so you know Pat White is gonna be pissed off, and OU is just the BCS sacrificial lamb they need. I'm suprised Notre Dame didn't get invited, I hate the BCS.

2) How does everyone forget about Dwight Howard?
Is it because he plays in Orlando? I'm a little surprised. Dwight Howard is making a name for himself as one of the premiere big men in the NBA, and everyone forgets that he's only like 22. Watch an Orlando game someday and be impressed. Sure, over $100 million for Rashard Lewis was dumb, but that's quite the squad SVG is running out.

3) The Browns got robbed
I've conceded the fact that Grimmus and Horse Balls have all but taken away the hope that Dallas gets a good draft pick, so I've jumped on the Browns bandwagon. How can you not? That being said, Cleveland got ROYALLY SCREWED by refs in the game against Arizona. Winslow made a damn near impossible catch in the end zone, was forced out and STILL managed to drag one toe...but since you can't review being forced out, they said "incomplete" and the Cardinals one. Bull and Shit. Thank you.

4) Grupo de Muerto
Well, it happens every time. The "Group Of Death" has been drawn for the Euro 2007 championships. Three of the top 10 tems in the Europe (world in my opinion) have all drawn the same group: Holland, Romania, Italy and France. I wish Portugal would have been in this group as well, and then it'd be like the NBA, where everyone just watched one group and cares about no one else.

5) Are you the next Elway?
Really, how long does Jay Cutler have until he joins the ranks of Brian Griese and Jake Plummer as Denver quarterbacks who have failed in the shadow of John "Barbaro" Elway? Leave it to Denver fans and their skeletal coach to platoon running backs all day long but forget that it takes time to develop a quarterback.

"Beat Brown's Caption" Contest!

I want to implement a new game here at TB&TB, I'm going to periodically put a picture up with a wacky quote. Use the comment section to beat the quote with something funnier.

"See, everyone? I don't need a gun, I'll kill Baron a different way. S-JAX SMASH!"

(This is also a test to see if anyone but Big and I read what we post)

Greatest. Article. Ever.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give to you the finest piece of writing I've seen in I don't know how long...

The Search for Homo Sapien Douchebagus.

My oglers fit the profile magnificently. A guy in a white shirt sewn from neckline to hem with superfluous off-white patches glanced over three times. His buddy, in a dark green sport coat and Kenneth Cole sneakers, followed suit. Across the walkway, a dude with a bleached faux-hawk and four silver necklaces gave me the eye.

This is an excellent article by Andrea Grimes at The Dallas Observer.

It's guys like these that give our gender a bad name. If you know someone like this, or you see someone like this, don't hesitate to smack them upside the head (try not to cut your hand on the gelled and frosted tips). Seriously, do me a solid favor, just kick them in the balls over and over and over...

What if....?

Every year college football is great. Any team from any one of the BCS conferences has a shot at the national title. Every year people of this team or that team get pissed and say "why is my team lower than that team, we are soooooo much better." All of this is what makes the season so fun and captivating. From right now until a playoff system goes in, people will be talking about how great a playoff would be.

Now, I'm a bowl guy. I love the history, the guessing, the rivals that come out of them. I love the little bowls that put some Wac team vs. some Big East middle of the pack team. Every year people talk about how good this conference is, well the bowl games are where its proven.

We here in America and the world we live in, sports, are becoming so obsessed with finding out who is better, yet are the same people that don't want our kids to feel like losers when they play youth sports. It's crazy. The biggest travesty in the world is not having the "best" two teams play for a national championship, yet if little Sally's soccer team get beat by 7 Saturday morning, its cool cuz we don't even keep score, EVERY ONE'S A WINNER! Hypocrites. All of us.

While yes a playoff would lead to some GREAT football, and it would keep the whole one month off for teams that are waiting to play in their bowl, Its not how it works.

But what if.......?

What if we took the top 16 teams in college football and set up a tourney? Looking over BCS rankings this what one would look like.

Interesting huh?

I would love to see USC vs. Oklahoma in the first round. Kansas and Hawaii would be fun as hell. West Virginia would have the hardest path the championship, while again, Ohio State has the easiest.

I know all this would change after this weekend, but damn this would be fun.

Maybe I'm coming around on this whole playoff thing after all. Because as we know, we all can't go on with our lives without the knowledge of who is really the best college football team this year. In fact if this doesn't happen next year, i say we all go on a hunger strike.

But like Tobey finding manbearpig, we all know I'll never go on a hunger strike, and College football will always have bowl games. And I love it.

The Brown Five - 11/29/07

The Brown Five is a daily breakdown of five stories that Brown stumbled upon and cause his eyebrows to raise up a bit. This probably won't be daily because Brown has the attention span of a...hey look! A bicycle..

1) Bobby Knight...Go Raiders!
If you haven't already heard or seen it, you must check out this video of Robert Knight being approached about shooting at a man's house. The really funny aspect is Bob Knight chastising someone about cursing at him and asking him to do something impolitely. If I was mad at Bobby Knight, I'd throw a chair at him and choke him.

2) Sean Taylor jersey is number one on NFL.com
I dunno, seems a little odd to me. I understand wanting to memorialize guy, but it ain't like Dan Snyder or the NFL really are hurting for money. If they were going to be classy about it, they would take ALL the sales and donate it to a local Miami charity or create a Sean Taylor foundation for underprivelged kids or something. I have some hot sports opinion about the jersey wearer, but that might merit its own post.

3) Tampa Bay Dev- whoops - Tampa Bay Rays!
You'd think I was kidding, but no. The perennial AL East cellar dweller first changes the name and loses "Devil", then they change the jerseys to look less minor league, and now they are making some interesting moves to improve their team, and, dare I say, put up a fight in the division? Traded for Matt Garza and closing in on Troy Percival are pretty big moves for TB. I'm not saying they will legitimately challenge NY or BOS, but they sure can give Baltimore and Toronto a run for their money.

4) Is the NFL Network evil?
No. Sure, you might bitch and moan if you are forced to get Time Warner Cable, but that isn't my problem. I've read the US Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, and no where does it say, "all citizens have the unalienable right to watch every professional football game broadcast." This is business and free enterprise, folks. If you don't like that you can't get it, switch to satellite. If you can't, go to a sports bar. I guarantee this debate will come again next week as the Redskins game is on the NFL network and Sean Taylor's funeral is the Monday before the game.

5) Cowboys over Packers
That's my pick. Favre 1.0, meet Favre 2.0.

The Second Turnbuckle

As we here at the Big and the Brown love all things sports, fake or real, we know that we don't have all the knowledge of some of our peers. We gladly move aside when someone who is an expert in a certain field wants to put his/her two cents in. With that said, here is what should be a weekly post about wrestling from our wrestling guru.

In the style of Quick Hits, Rapid Punches, and all shorts El Blogador will take you for a quick beating. Now you'll have yo use your imagination for this....You, the reader are already beaten down by seeing a post from me so you're slumped in the corner. I am pumped and have my feet on the second rope with my junk not to far from your face and I will now drop 10 punches as the fans count out loud.

1. Apologies to Hard Body. After he was identified in my first post Georgia State Police arrested Hard Body Harrison for running a couple of houses where he had 8 women as sex slaves. Guess Hard Body needed money to by the other pant leg for his wrestling tights.

2. I have learned that Randy "Macho Man" Savage will be on the upcoming season of VH1's "Surreal Life". I can just picture it, a hot tub scene with Macho Man, Bridget the Midget, and Elizabeth Berkley (I don't know that they're on, but they're random enought to fit).

3. TNA is going to save WWE not Chris Jericho. Total Nonstop Action Wrestling is not that bad. They're creativity combined with older talent willing to work for something besides the evil empire of wrestling will force the WWE to freshen things up.

4. Brokeback 2: The Natue Boy and The Heartbreak Kid. If you saw this past Monday's RAW their interactions were only slightly homo, but HBK's ponytail and cowboy combined with Naitche's clingy hugs and shoulder massages it put it over the top.

5. Jericho has returned. It's great timing for the WWE with most of the talent gone. It's not good for Jericho because all he's got to work with is Randy Orton. That is until Triple H gets out of the doghouse. Then we'll see a great battle on the mic and in the ring.

6. Jericho Comment 2: Electric Boogaloo. He needs to grow his hair back. It kind of like when Bagwell had his massive goatee and chopped it off right before the season started he went from looking like man beast to looking like part of a man feast.

7. Santino Mirella has something. I'm just trying to make it to 10. The fans don't seem to be behind me on this.

8. Brock Lesnar: UFC Champion? If you have not heard he's changed his focus to MMA and the UFC picked him up after 1 official match. It'll be interesting to see where he goes, I say put him on TUF get some exposure without hurting the UFC PPV card. Or just wait til some other athletic event catches his attention, remember he quit WWE to go play in the NFL.

9. Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake said he turned down an offer to return to the WWE because he didn't like their lack of moral values and lack of wrestling in the ring. I don't think anyone is going to miss another 50-something lumbering around in the ring. Way to get you're name back in the buzz though Mr. Beefcake. and I raise the comment fist waive over head and look around the arena...

10. The Hogan Divorce. Oh my. Looks like at Wrestlemania we'll have a main event of Y2J (or KYJ as Sanchico, SanDiego, Santino Mirella called him) and Hulk. A kid in the klink, a wife to pay, and a daughter whose 2 years away from a photo spread, the guy is going to need to make money.

An Answer to Big's Soulja Boy Love

This isn't from me, but from Justin Jacobs of The Pitt News, I just find it relevant to counteract the juxtaposed prose that Big provided of his deep and creepy obsession with "Soulja Boy":

I sat at my computer for a solid half-hour, trying to think of a witty, yet still caustic way to say this, but I just can’t come up with anything. So here goes: Soulja Boy is terrible. Awful. Maybe the worst thing to happen in hip-hop since Notorious B.I.G. died. And that was a decade ago. Now before you call me an indie-rock snob, let’s explore why it is that I might be so perturbed by this bad little boy.

With that, I present to you The Top Seven Reasons Why Soulja Boy is Worse Than Global Warming and Twice as Annoying. Let us begin.

7. Name Confusion and Shameless Self-Promotion — Soulja Boy is also known as Soulja Boy Tell’em. His album is called Souljaboytellem.com, which is also the address of his Web site. Now, this extended name would imply that Mr. Boy, whose real name is DeAndre Way, is being instructed to tell us something, as in, “Hey Soulja Boy, tell ‘em about your hot new album called Souljaboytellem.com.” But, no, that’s just his name.

Thankfully, in case any of us were confused, Mr. Boy repeats some incarnation of his name no less than 46 times in the course of his hit song, “Crank That (Soulja Boy).” He also includes his name in the song’s title for those of us who are deaf and can only read track listings. What a gentleman.

6. Special Dance Equals Career Death — If Soulja Boy wishes his career to be long and illustrious, it’s a shame, because by creating a dance to go with his hit single, he has effectively slaughtered this possibility. Remember the guys who wrote “Macarena?” How about “The Electric Slide?” Exactly. By basing the first hit song — the foundation of a commercial artist’s career — on an instructional dance, any chance that people will view said artist as legitimate drops to zero.

The only way for such an artist to stay successful is to write more hit singles that come with dances. Unfortunately for Soulja Boy, the quality of his current dance hints that any subsequent dances will be about as interesting as sitting on a couch or lying down. His “Crank That” dance makes drunk people look drunker and awkward people more awkward, causing many to fall over and hurt themselves on a sharp object nearby. Who’s ready for a lawsuit?

4. Comes Complete with Corresponding “Soulja Girl” — Soulja Boy wasn’t satisfied with only one Soulja-related song, and we all know that he isn’t at all sexist, so the album also features the tune “Soulja Girl.” This tune, just released as the next single, is a smooth, love ballad, and actually doesn’t suck that bad. That is, until the chorus, when Soulja Boy chimes in with the same “YOUUUUUUU” chant that plagues “Crank That.” Yup, Mr. Boy wrote two songs using the same chorus. He’s a creative one, that Soulja. About as creative as a coma patient.

3. Lyrical Content — Now we get to the real meat of my argument. The lyrics of “Crank That” are the rap equivalent of the dialogue in an episode of “Beavis and Butthead.” That is to say, they are utterly and unequivocally stupid. But at least Beavis and Butthead were funny.

Lines like, “Nope you can’t do it like me/ So don’t do it like me/ I seen you tryin’ to do it like me/ Man, that dance was ugly,” sound like either a drunken catfight at a frat house or a second grade playground taunt.

Either way, to glean any meaning from Soulja Boy’s lyrics will have the same result as listening to Nickelback — you’ll just end up with a headache. There are two lines, however, that have garnered a certain amount of special attention, leading us to …

2. Blatant Misogyny — Soulja Boy, like many rappers of his breed, sure loves the ladies. Or rather, being grossly sexist and disgusting towards them. Now I haven’t conducted any solid research, but I’m reasonably sure that the majority of women out there would prefer not to be “super-soaked” or “Supermanned.” Honestly, I’d be less disgusted with Soulja Boy if he wrote a song about having a water gun fight with himself — at least no one would be degraded. And on that note …

1. Soulja Boy Has Ruined My Childhood — Like many of you reading this, Super Soakers were about the coolest thing to own anywhere from third until sixth grade. The bigger Super Soaker you had, the cooler you were, and water fights could rage all over any neighborhood.

Thanks to “Crank That,” I can no longer think of these wonderful childhood memories without the notion of Soulja Boy super-soaking his favorite “Hooooooo.” Thank you, Soulja Boy. Really. It’s a much more pleasant image.

So there you have it, The Top Seven Reasons Why Soulja Boy is Worse Than Global Warming and Twice as Annoying. Keep in mind that these are only the top seven — a veritable encyclopedia of other reasons is currently in existence, including “Soulja Boy is Everything That is Wrong With Music Today” and “Wearing Sunglasses With Your Name on the Lenses is Not Cool.”

In conclusion, “Crank That (Soulja Boy)” by Soulja Boy, AKA Soulja Boy Tell’em is the first single on Souljaboytellem.com. And it sucks.

The Brown Five - 11/28/07

The Brown Five is a daily breakdown of five stories that Brown stumbled upon and cause his eyebrows to raise up a bit. This probably won't be daily because Brown has the attention span of a...hey look! A bicycle..

1) David Justice? HOF?
If I say the names David Justice, Tim Raines, Shawon Dunston, and Chuck Knoblauch, you'd think I was just reliving my days as a child watching baseball. Nope, these are some names on the current hall of fame ballot. Wow. A wife beater, a cocaine addict, a guy who can't spell his name but had the Shawon-o-meter, and a man who could barely throw to first...goddammit, I love baseball.

2) Jorge Garbajosa, a piece of garbage?
Isn't that a clever title? Jorge ignored the Raptors front office and decided to play in the Euro championships this summer. That's backfired in the worst possible way, because the Raptors claim he needs another surgery on his leg before it heals (one of the ugliest injuries I've seen in basketball). How does this affect GM's across the league when it comes to their foreign (or even domestic) stars wanting to represent their countries in international play? Big time. Keep an eye on this.

3) Santana in pinstripes?
Guh...first those Bronx folks say they won't trade their hot shot prospects, now they might give the farm to Minnesota for the man who might be the best pitcher in modern baseball. If nothing else, I support this trade because it might actually make a Yanks/Sox match up worth putting up with the ESPN fluffers at full blast. Oh yeah, they're talking about Joe Nathan too. If these guys want money, uh, Tom Hicks has it too, right?

4) Hey! Was that Ricky Williams?
Like another Texas graduate I see in the mirror, Ricky built up his performance to be epic, and he ended up finishing quicker than anyone imagined while getting injured in the process. However, tearing a chest muscle when your arm gets stepped on is like spraining your ankle trying to get a condom on, you know, things that happened in the past 5 days. Oh well, Big gets his chance to gloat because Patrick Cobbs is the only running back alive in Miami. Unless they sign Hodges Mitchell or Ivan Taylor just to fuck with Big's mind. Don't put it past them, Cam Cameron hates Big.

5) Helio Castroneves wins!
A sports nation yawns!

Power is in the Eye.....

Another week, and we still don't have many answers. Some team showed something (Min, Ind) and some just plain farted and fell down (NYG, Tenn). Here is how this week's "power" rankings go. aside-"Power" is measured by how well they would fair in a drug induced fight with police.

The Opps I Crapped my Pants Tier

32 Miami Dolphins 0-11
Well, Ricky comes back and then gets hurt. Chatmen comes back to play, and then gets hurt. You know what that means? Show me North Texas Great Patrick Cobbs! WHOOOO!

If this was college football, these teams would be EVERYBODYS homecoming

31 San Francisco 3-8
I know what your saying, "Big how can such a smart, beautifull human like yourself not move San Fran up after they won against Ariz? Do you hate gay people?" This team still sucks, don't get it twisted because they got hot against a up and down Ariz. You guys beat Robo Jesus Arm. Congrats.

30 Atlanta Falcons 3-8
Hmm, its nice for Indy that when they were on a slide, they got to play joey blue skys and the Falcons. This team is counting the days till they can get Brain Brohm or D-Mack in the draft.

29 Oakland Raiders 3-8
This team showed some fight this week with a win over KC. Baby Huggy Bear was great, and look out, Daunte is showing some signs of life. Jam Jam will start soon, but if Cullpepper has a few more decent games, he will be starting somewhere next year.

28 New York Jets 2-9
They loose big to the boys, showing us that the win against Pitt was just a crazy ass luck, and shitty ass play by Pitt. They could get 1 more win next week against Miami, but other than that? Hello top 5 pick!

27 St.Louis Rams 2-9
I was thinking this team could run the table, but then they had to go put in the Headbutt. Why did you trade away that Harvard guy?

26 Carolina Panthers 4-7
Who do you start, Vinny or Carr? The answer will all ways be loss.

The Only the Die Hard Fans still believe they have a shot Tier

25 Cincinnati Bengals 4-7
Nice win over a slipping Tenn team. Ocho Cinco is back, and now Henry is prison strong, a win this week vs Pitt on Sunday night and they have a shot to get back in things a bit.

24 Baltimore Ravens 4-7
I can see it now, during film session over the 32-14 loss against SD, Ray Lewis will stand up and say "Is Ray Lewis going to have to choke a bitch?" How fun would it be to see Donavon McNuget here next year?

23 Arizona Cardinals 5-6
Every time you think this team has turned a corner, Robo Jesus Arm forgets to pray.

22 Philadelphia Eagles 5-6
They almost beat Satan's Anus. Talking heads across America are saying they provided the blue print for beating New England, too bad they don't have a blue print to get to the playoffs.

21 Buffalo Bills 5-6
Another team i thought would show us something this week. But i forgot about JP Loseman. And the suck is back.

20 Kansas City Chiefs 4-7
3 weeks ago I really thought this team had a shot at the playoffs, well then LJ got hurt, and Priest waves goodbye. Despite Kolby Smith's best effort to be "WTF" player of the week, Herm still can't call the right play at the right time.

19 Washington Redskins 5-6
The loss of Taylor will do one of two things; They will either rally around each other and play some inspired football, or they will be so devastated they fall into the depths of the ocean.

The Teams without an identity but if they find one fast, could get into playoff talks tier

18 Houston Texans 5-6
Welp, they lost to Cle. Thanks. Fag.

17 Denver Broncos 5-6
If Jay can play, They can stay. But he can't, so they shan't.

16 Chicago Bears 5-6
The Sex Cannon officially has a Bullet. His name is Hester, and people that kick to him should be kicked in the balls.

Watch out! They are FALLING!!! tier

15 Tennessee Titans 6-5
Really didn't think the face stomper Haynesworth was that important.

14 Detroit Lions 6-5
I think when Jon Kitna and Bret Farve met for a handshake after the game the conversations went something like this.

Jon-"Hey man good game"
Bret-"Who are you?"
Jon-"I'm Jon Kitna, the quarterback."
Bret-"Bret Farve, Starting quarterback."

The Showing me something Tier

13 Minnesota Vikings 5-6
Again, if Travis plays well, they will make the playoffs.

12 New Orleans Saints 5-6
Welcome back to the league Drew Bree's. Good to see you felt like playing again.

11 San Diego Chargers 6-5
Way to go Norv! One hell of game you put together. Now go loose to the Chiefs.

The Playoffs Front Runners

10 Seattle Seahawks 7-4
Tried to give away that game to the Rams, but hey, a wins a win.

9 New York Giants 7-4
I think Eli just threw another INT. I hope they fall, far far down, and Manning is exposed for the fraud he is.

8 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 7-4
Why didn't Chris Sims come in when Garcia got hurt? He almost lost his life last year when he played with a busted spleen, you would think that would at least merit a backup job.

7 Cleveland Browns 7-4
I have now given up hope that this pick will be a good one for the Cowboys, so I'm now on the band wagon. This team is so much fun to watch, they are like the West Virgina of the pros. No def, all O.

The AFC Teams that are playing for 2nd

6 Jacksonville Jaguars 8-3
They beat the shit out of the Bills. If Byron Leftwiches back up stay healthy (David Garrard) this team will challenge the Colts.

5 Pittsburgh Steelers 8-3
This team and Green Bay i haven't really figured out yet. They look good sometimes, but then they look like shit sometimes too. I don't know. I just hope they get a home game during the playoffs so we can see that terrible grass at Hines Field. Its old school fun.

4 Indianapolis Colts 9-2
Glad to see them take care of "biznass" against the Falcons. They needed it to say in front of Jacksonville.

Only teams in the NFC worth a damn

3 Green Bay Packers 10-1
We will find out how good this team is in 2 days, my guess, about 2 tiers less than the Cowboys.

2 Dallas Cowboys 10-1
On paper, they are much better than the Packers, but that's on paper.

The Best Team This Year Tier

1 New England Patriots 11-0
They fell from best team ever, to best team this year with scraping by of the Eagles.

There you go. Good times. I wish i had some friends.

The Brown Five - 11/27/07

The Brown Five is (what will hopefully be) a daily breakdown of five stories that Brown stumbled upon and causes his eyebrows to raise up a bit. This probably won't be daily because Brown has the attention span of a...hey look! A bicycle..

1) Tony Romo is dating...
Who gives a damn? Seriously, I was flipping radio stations and heard a long segment about what people should name Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson. What? Really? That's what we're worried about? Listen, as long as Romo has an above 100 quarterback rating and keeps winning games, he could be fucking Dale Hansen and I don't care.

2) The Mavs are on a bit of a skid
The Mavs have lost 3 in a row coming into a home stretch. Dirk's playing well, unfortunately, he's about the only one. This is supposed to be a championship team, so they'd better right the ship soon. Then again, it's only November and they've had losing skids before, so I'm not too worried. (Make sure you read Big's Dirk post)

3) The College Coaching Carousel
Let's see, who's been fired/resigned? Houston Nutt, Chain Gailey, Dennis Franchione, Bill Callahan, Phil Bennett, Guy Morriss, Lloyd Carr just to name a few. Who's going where? Shit if I know, but it'll be fun to watch. Off the cuff predictions put Fran at SMU, Nutt at Baylor, Gaily at Arkansas, Ferentz at Michigan.

4) The USA's gonna walk to World Cup 2010
CONCACAF might be the easiest road to the World Cup, and luckily, that includes the United States soccer team. Given that the US has drawn Cuba, Guatemala, and T&T, I'm not too concerned about qualifying.

5) The Boom King is dead...
We joke about a lot of things on this blog, but it usually takes one story to make us slam on the brakes and attempt to shake cobwebs out of our head. Sean Taylor, the standout safety for the Redskins, died this morning after being shot in the leg protecting his home during a robbery attempt. Taylor was what Roy Williams should be. He was a bust you in the mouth safety who knew how to cover his end of the field. The Taylor Family, the Washington Redskins and Area 51 have taken a huge loss today, so think a good thought for them.

Dirk-son and his German Miyagi

Interesting story about the big German that plays for Dallas. Its from the Dallas Observer, about not only his trip to Australia over the summer, but how his mentor and trainer, Holger Geschwinder, trys to improve his game. Her are some excerpts.

On his summer trip.

"Whether Nowitzki realized it or not, he was following in the footsteps of the Aborigine, who had traced similar paths for thousands of years on their ritualistic walkabouts. They were spiritual journeys, a renewing of the Aborigine's relationship with the earth, and a communion with ancestral spirits. In modern times, the walkabout was often seen as a journey back to one's physical homeland, a reminder of who the Aborigine was and of the things most important in life."

On how he would get Dirk to the NBA

"Geschwinder told Nowitzki that he could achieve his dream of playing in the NBA, but it would take a lot of hard work and dedication. He came up with a five-year plan. He believed that the game of basketball was changing, and that if Nowitzki was going to compete in the NBA he would have to become a player who could play any position. So instead of putting him under the basket and teaching him the dunk and the sky hook, the traditional moves of men his size, he dragged him out to the 3-point line and taught him how to shoot. "

His unorthodox training methods

"At times Geschwinder's training methods seemed bizarre, rooted in a bygone era, and in the same way that the Daniel LaRusso character questioned his mentor, Mr. Miyagi, in the 1984 movie The Karate Kid, Nowitzki sometimes was left scratching his head at the drills his coach came up with. To teach Nowitzki balance, for example, Geschwinder had him do walking handstands or ran him around like a wheelbarrow, with his hands on Nowitzki's ankles. To teach defense, he got a former fencing champion to demonstrate to Nowitzki that in fencing, as in all sports, good offense flows out of good defense. Over the years, his training regimen would include rowing, ballet, rollerblading and guitar lessons. To prepare Nowitzki for the added weight his frame would acquire, he made him wear a 22-pound vest as he practiced. "

Dirks wants out life

"What would come after basketball? Nowitzki wondered. He had enough money (he would make $16 million the next season alone), but money wasn't everything. "It helps," Geschwinder would say. "But it's not the point." Nowitzki wanted a family. He had never wanted to be married before 30, but 30 was approaching, and before long he would want to meet a woman and have kids"

This is just a great read, and if you are a Mav's fan, or just a fan of a kinda crazy NBA player, check out the story here .

The Brown Five - 11/26/07

The Brown Five is (what will hopefully be) a daily breakdown of five stories that Brown stumbled upon and causes his eyebrows to raise up a bit. This probably won't be daily because Brown has the attention span of a...hey look! A bicycle..

1) BCS Chaos
Kansas? Lost. LSU? Lost. ASU? Lost. Now we're looking at Missouri and West virginia in the...oh wait, each team has one more game to play. Are Oklahoma and Pittsburgh good enough to give Ohio State a walk through to the national championship? Probably. If that does happen, I know a certain manbearpig who's gonna be happy.

2) Texas repeats...their performance from last year.
K-State, Oklahoma, Texas A&M. One school that makes you scratch your head, and the two rivalry games. I'll say I'm dissapointed, but shocked? Not really. Texas has subpar coordinators. Greg Davis was lucky to find Vince Young to run the zone read, and he'll luck out again when Jon Chiles takes the helm. Texas has a new defensive coordinator each year, it's no wonder the Duane Akina finally got the job only to prove he doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground.

A three loss season is a failure in Texas's books, so Mack needs to get his coordinators together or alumni (hello) are gonna start getting pissed.

3) Joshua Cribbs? Leon Washington?
Why is this a debate over the past weeks? Devin Hester is, far and away, the best special teams player in all of football. Go back and watch the Denver game, he's a force to be reckoned with and he alone will get the Bears back into the playoffs, not the sex cannon.

4) Auburn players are hated by dogs
Remember during the Auburn and Georgia game a few years ago, when "Uga", Georgia's loveable bulldog mascot (Get it? "Uga" = "U.G.A." = "University of Georgia") snapped when Auburn scored a touchdown and appeared to attach the Auburn player? Well it happened again, only this time a police dog at the Alabama and Auburn game decided to bite the hand of an Auburn player celebrating in the end zone. Go back and watch the video here.

5) Fuck Torii Hunter and Fuck the Angels
So, the Los Angeles Southern California Angels who watch The Hills came in at the last minute and dropped $90 million contract to sign Torii Hunter. Wait a minute, didn't they drop big money last year to sign GMJ? They didn't need a center fielder, let alone dropping $18 million a year on one. Are they worried about GMJ getting suspended for PHP (go alphabet soup!)? All in all, I'm kind of pissed and relieved at the same time...now the Rangers can look to the far east and a man named Fukudome.

Turkey + College Football = Crazy Big

After an extended weekend where I did very little other than eat, watch football, and make jokes with my family, I am so ready to get back to the world we live in, sports, and this child of love blood called the big and the brown.

We are going to start with the craziest of the two football pants party's that went down over this Holiday, college football. Whoa Nelly, look how Dirty Sanchez is! Lets recap over the last few weeks, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Arizona St, Boston College, LSU and Kansas have all now lost, knocking most of them out of the champ race, well all but one. With the new BCS ranking out, let take a look at who can play for a National Championship. Here is a list of the only teams that still have a shot at this thing, and in order from best chance to wost.

Team(BCS #)(BCS Grade)

West Effin Virgina (2)(.9781) 10-1
I Give this team about an 90% chance of getting to the big one. All they have to do is beat Pitt this week. They should have no problem doing this, i mean come on, Pitt is coached by Dave Wanstat.

Missouri (1)(.9781) 11-1
All they have to do is beat Oklahoma on Sat down in San Antonio. Easier said than done. These teams played already once before, in Norman, and Oklahoma pulled away in the fourth quarter for the win. I like Chase "Grand Dragon" Daniels, and I think they can do it, but its not as easy a game as West Virgina. Chance to win 65%

If either of those guys loose, this is the team that will take its place.

Ohio State(3)(.9192) 11-1
Man, I hate this team, but watch them back into this game. They don't have to do a damn thing but root for Pitt and Oklahoma. Nobody can jump them, they have way to big a lead in the points, and they would be one of 3 teams with one loss.

If both top two teams loose, it will be Ohio State and one of these guys

Virgina Tech(6)(.7811) 10-2
Not the best of the 2 loss teams, that goes to Georgia, but it has the best path to get into the champ game. If the top 2 loose, and VT beats BC in the ACC champ game, they are already ahead of LSU, and the team they would be beat would be a more "quality win" than the LSU should they beat Tenn. I know its making your head hurt, but think of this, We could have a Ohio St vs Virgina Tech camp game. This would be apart of my personal hell. We would get ass whipped by the VT Shootings (a horrible thing that has no reason to be brought up when talking about football), Frank Beimers goiter, and absolutely NO PASSING AT ALL!! The only redeeming value of a VT vs OSU title game is watching the networks dance around the idea that the last time VT did this well was with Mike Vick, and Bennie Well's doing his best MoMo Claurett impressions.

LSU (7)(.7744) 10-2
I didn't think this team would make it till the end, but I didn't see them loosing to Arkansas. I guess never underestimate the new job for the coach and the playing a superstar (McFadden) combo. It makes sence when you look at it, but I really thought they would loose to Georgia at the SEC game. Ohh well. They way this team gets in is if Missu, WV, and VT all loose. Now if Georgia was in the SEC game, they would have enuf muster to pass VT with a win, but Tenn is too far down the polls to merit a jump if VT avenges a loss to BC.

If everybody above but OSU goes down, then not only will the bowls be all effed up, but these teams will then, and only then have a shot at going to aquatic dome.

Kansas Fighting Manginos (5)(.7918) 11-1
I don't think it fair either way with these guys. If everybody drops, then they are the only one loss team, but they wouldn't even be the Big 12 champ. But they do have a nice points lead over everybody else but Georgia, but Georgia has 2 losses.

USC (8)(.6926) 9-2
No Pac-10 champ game should = no National Champ game, but its USC and if they pound UCLA they could get some name recognition votes. I don't think they is any chance, but hey, they would at least have a Pac-10 championship, witch is more than Georgia or Kansas.

Oklahoma (8)(.6829) 10-2
This team is 12th in the computer polls. They would have to jump up 6-8 spots to have a shot at playing for the championship. Again they would be the Big 12 champ, and that is something they can hold over Kansas and Georgia. They would probley need USC to loose as well.

Georgia (4)(.8274) 10-2
The best of the 2 loss teams without a doubt in my mind, but because they can't win the SEC, they don't have any more games to keep in front of the teams right behind them. If Tenn wins over LSU, then we could easily have 3 SEC teams in the BSC games, therefore saying goodbye to Hawaii.

So I now give you what I think will happen, just for shits and giggles, and what bowl games we could see in the early days of 2008.

IF Missouri wins

BCS Championship Game

West Virgina (Big East Champs)
vs
Missouri (Big 12 Champs)

Rose

USC (Pac 10 champ)
vs.
Ohio State (Big 10 champ)

Orange

Boston College (ACC Champ)
vs.
Florida (At-Large)

Fiesta

Kansas (At-Large)
vs.
Georgia (At-Large)

Sugar

LSU (SEC Champ)
vs.
Hawaii (At-Large)

If Oklahoma Wins

BCS Championship

West Virgina (Big East)
vs.
Ohio State (Big10)

Rose

USC (Pac10)
vs.
Illinois (At-Large)

Orange

Boston College (ACC)
vs.
Georgia (at large)

Fiesta

Oklahoma (Big12)
vs.
Hawaii (At large)

Sugar

LSU (SEC)
vs.
Kansas (At Large)

No I don't really know which one I would prefer. Missouri vs. WV would be more fun of a Champ game, but i would love to see Oklahoma get beat by a mid major again(Hawaii) and see Juice Williams and Illinois play USC. Either way its going be a crazy good college football Saturday next weekend.

Soulja Boy Tell 'em, i.e. Mr. Boy let them know.

As a sports site, we will sometimes drift into pop culture, usually when sports is involved in some way. This is one of those times. For those of you who know me, know my mindless obsession with the Soulja Boy song crank that. The song is bad, the dance is cool (kinda), and it has now been embraced by just about every single sports athlete in the nation. I even think i saw Brain Leonard do the superman dance last week. Crazy.

Most people, don't even know what the song is about, so here goes. The song is in Italics, the explanation is in regular text.

Soulja Boy Off In This Hoe
The Soulja Boy is in the room, and he going to entertain you
Watch Me Crank It Watch Me Roll
Watch me dance
Watch Me Crank Dat Soulja Boy
watch me dance the "Soulja Boy"
Then Super Man Dat Hoe
Watch me ejaculate on a sleeping women and stick the bed sheets to her back so when she wakes up she has a cape "glued" to her back
Now Watch Me Do(Crank Dat Soulja Boy)
Watch me do my Crazy Dance
Now Watch Me Do(Crank Dat Soulja Boy)
Watch me do my crazy dance
Now Watch Me Do(Crank Dat Soulja Boy)
watch me do my crazy dance
Now Watch Me Do(Crank Dat Soulja Boy)
watch me do my crazy dance (original i know)

Soulja Boy Off In This Hoe
Soulja Boy is doing really well right here, where ever here is to you.

Watch Me Do It (Watch Me Do It)
watch me dance
Dance (Dance)
dance
Let Get To It (Let Get To It)
lets go ahead and dance, or maybe have some sex
Nope, You Can't Do It Like Me
you can't dance like i can dance
Hoe, So Don't Do It Like Me
so you shouldn't try to dance like me
Folk, I See You Tryna Do It Like Me
i see that you are trying to dance like me
Man That Shit Was Ugly
but it didn't look very good at all

Soulja Boy Off In This Hoe
Soulja boy is here and you need to know that
Watch Me Crank ItWatch Me Roll
watch me dance
Watch Me Crank Dat Soulja Boy
watch me dance the soulja boy
Then Super Man Dat Hoe
then ejaculate on a sleeping woman's back, yada yada you get it
Now Watch Me Do

SO lets recap. Soulja Boy's Crank That is about first and foremost,
Soulja boy can dance, and Soulja Boy can do it better than you.

Then its about ejaculating on chicks.

And last its about you hateing Soulja Boy because he is rich.

Good times, and don't forget to Super Soak dat Hoe this thanksgiving!

The end of the line, again.

To be honest I can't really say I'm surprised about this, but Priest Homes is retiring, again. I know this was a feel good story, from him pretty much just showing up for training camp, and running drills on the sideline because he couldn't practice with them team till doctors cleared him, to getting the starting job when LJ went down.

It sucks to see him go, but I have to say I'm not surprised. He had the same injury that Mike Irvin had and they told him if he plays again he could die. Unlike Shark from the movie Any Given Sunday, i don't think Priest did it for the money, but just cuz he wanted to play again.

On a side note, What could have been a breakout year for runningbacks from the Univ. of Texas has turned into quite the opposite. Ced Benson sucks it up in Chi-town, Priest comes back only to be a shell of his former self, but the bright spot was Selvin Young getting some good looks in RB heaven Denver, only to get hurt this week. Well i guess you guys still have a possible Rick Williams comeback to look forward too. Nice.

The Brown Five - 11/21/07

The Brown Five is (what will hopefully be) a daily breakdown of five stories that Brown stumbled upon and causes his eyebrows to raise up a bit. This probably won't be daily because Brown has the attention span of a...hey look! A bicycle...

1) Gilbert and a talking lobster
It's time like these I wish I could come up with stuff like this and send it to adidas. For those that don't know, Gilbert Arenas might be the craziest sumbitch in the entire NBA. He isn't Ron Artest or Stephon Marbury crazy, he's more Bill Walton crazy. I guarantee you he came up with this idea and not adidas marketing.

Anyway, check out more of his stuff at adidas's Giltv.com. Nothing sells sneakers like a loveable sports figure and some mother fucking talking lobsters.

2) Pacman Jones found a power pill
Everyone's favorite ghetto smurf, Adam "Pacman" Jones was rumored to have started a fight with Albert Haynesworth, a current (also crazy) Tennessee Titan and former teammate.

Rest easy, America, Pacman Jones is still crazier than a woman on the rag.

3) Matt Holliday won the...wait, what?
Jimmy Rollins won the NL MVP? How in the hell did this happen? Matt Holliday led the NL in all the major stat categories AND was the clutch factor in getting the Rockies to the World Series. I watched the Rockies this year, and, trust me, Holliday is that good.

Jimmy Rollins? Can someone quantify this for me? Please?

4) David Beckham, welcome to the bench
England's national coach, Steve McClaren, has decided that he's going to take former captain and current model(?) David Beckham and put his free kicking ass to the bench for the upcoming Euro 2008 qualifier.

Beckham is the shell of his former self as a player (hello, MLS), so I can't say this is too surprising, and he's kind of passed the torch of the face of English soccer to Michael Owen or, god forbid, Wayne Rooney.

I think it matters because Beckham was supposed to be this ethereal figure for Americans to use to get into soccer. With him on the bench, why should anyone give have a rat's ass about him (kind of) playing in Los Angeles?

5) Have a Happy Thanksgiving
Sure the holidays may not be the best time to start a blog, but we didn't really ask for your opinion.

Big's travelling because his family occupies just about every small town in the state of Texas.

I'm just lazy.

Have a happy holiday weekend.

Attention Rangers Fans

The Anaheim Los Angeles Angels of Southern California, but not quite San Diego have just gotten a little bit worse.

Cabrera was a Ranger killer, and a gold glove short stop.

Garland is a fantastic pitcher, but don't forget, he's the pussy who was complaining about Texas having light signals in center field at the Ballpark letting batters know what's coming.

Good deal for the Rangers, now how about we make a move already?

Domo arigato, Mr. Fukudome.

The 2nd Turnbuckle

As we here at the Big and the Brown love all things sports, fake or real, we know that we don't have all the knowledge of some of our peers. We gladly move aside when someone who is an expert in a certain field wants to put his/her two cents in. With that said, here is what should be a weekly post about wrestling from our wrestling guru.

First, my story. Much like Big and Brown I am a child of 80's pop culture and could even be their child because I am big and brown. I have always been an aficionado of the arts in the squared circle. It will probably be the topic of most of my blogs. You might like it, you might not, you might think it's a waste of time. But, if you checking out blogs you're trying to waste time. Unless you stumbled on this blog while searching "how to save big, brown, fuzzy bears" read it, even some of this culture is good for you.

The state of pro wrestling is very different from 10 years ago, when everyone was wearing a Stone Cold shirt, quoting The Rock, or making hand gestures to the groin area. The cycle right now is at the bottom, but it's on the way up. It happens, everyone remembers watching Superstars on Saturday mornings when cartoons were finishing up. That was the mid-80's when Hogan had a cartoon and Captain Lou Albano and the gang were hanging out with Cyndi Lauper. The the mid-90's came around and everyone watched Raw, Nitro, Thunder, or Smackdown or all in my case. Then came the down swing, it's due to come up again.

Just so it's somewhat entertaining here is a list because people love lists:

Top 10 Spares/Jobbers

1. Al Snow
2. Barry Horowitz
3. Norman Smiley
4. Hard Body Harrison
5. Stevie Richards
6. Blue Meanie
7. Leif Cassidy
8. Brooklyn Brawler
9a. Pete Gas
9b. Joey Abs
9c. Rodney
10. Aldo Montoya

Power is in the Eye of......

Well, well, well. What a NFL season this has been. With 11 weeks in the books, and every team playing 10 games so far, its time for the stretch run of the season. Who are the players? Who are the pretenders? I'm here to tell you. Sports. Power rankings make me horny.

The Opps I Crapped my Pants Tier

32. Miami 0-10 - We really might see a 0-16. This team is BAD. The defence is OLD. In a year where there isn't a super stud #1 overall pick coming out of college, its hard to even say "whelp we got the first pick at least" this year as a Dolphin fan.

31. San Francisco 2-8 - Man if your a fan of the 49ers I'm truly sorry for you. Your stud sleeper RB is hurt, you QB sucks, the TE that was supposed to change the game is a bust so far, and you don't even get to look forward to the draft, cuz you traded your first round pick to Satan's Anus(New England).

30. Oakland 2-8 - I would have this team in the next tier if they start using Jam Jam at QB. They got a solid def but without Lamont Jordan this team is the second worse offence in football. If Russell was starting, at least you would be moving forward.

Bad, bad teams, but they at least have a reason tier

29. Atlanta 3-7 - Well the Falcons have a reason for being this shitty, and he is in Jail. You can't just take away the starting pro bowl QB of your team and except the team not to go down hill, that said, the other parts of this team aren't that bad.

28. NY Jets 2-8 - J-E-T-S REBUILD REBUILD REBUILD! Going to learn a lot about where this team is going during the rest of the season. Is Washington a legit back? Can Clemmons be a starter? Where will Jon Vilma go? Who really gives a damn?

Bad teams you should watch out for, they could get ya!

27. St. Louis 2-8 This team really could go 8-8 and win the div. Look S.Jax is back, Buldger no longer has a broken ribs, and L.Little quite killing people! If the O-Line keeps gelling, they could be the ULTIMATE sleeper.

26. Cincinnati 3-7 - Great O, horrible D. Isn't Marvin a def genius? Well, good news, prison makes you strong.

25. Carolina 4-6 - I never thought I would see the day where we thought Vinny T is a better QB than David Carr. I'm going to start calling Carr the 10cent condom, because he is a BUST!

Not so Bad teams playing like ass tier

24. Chicago 4-6 - If only the Sex Cannon would unleash that damn dragon.

23. New Orleans 4-6 - Man I love Reggie Bush, and if he was on a team with a legit offence leader (read not sean payton), he would be one of the most exciting backs to play the game. Instead he has been regulated to the next Eric Metcalf.

The "at this point they could go either way" tier

22. Baltimore 4-6 - Come on, give Troy Smith a shot. Come on. You know you want to.

21. Kansas City 4-6 - The most entertaining coach in the league, Herm, will keep his job due to yet another average season. This guy gets more free passes from being just as plane as white bread. And i love it.

20. Arizona 5-5 - Good ol' robo arm Jesus face.

19. Minnesota 4-6 - Man this team is great, sans one player, a QB. If Travis, sorry Travarius, boom boom Jackson plays like the played last week, decent, this team can make the playoffs. Mark it.

18. Philadelphia 5-5 - Don't know how long McNugget is out, but if this teams goes to the playoffs again without him, he will be playing in purple next year.

The Fletch Tier (meaning they are under rated)

17. Houston 5-5 - They get a healthy Shaub and AJ, and they win. Its what they do.

16. Buffalo 5-5 - Before Marshawn Lynch went down i really thought they had a shot at the Anus. Man was I wrong! They are still a good team in a shitty teams body.

The I like em, but wouldn't put money on em tier

15 Washington 5-5 - Should have beat the boys. That Auburn QB they have looks pretty nice.

14. Detroit 6-4 - I don't know how this team keeps winning. I guess its God's QB Kitna. And the weired thing is, if their WR's get healthy they could win at least 3 more.

13. Denver 5-5 - Will the real Jay Cutler please stand up? They will go as he goes, so i hope its in the crapper.

12. San Diego 5-5 - Still think DeMarcus Ware was the wrong pick?

11. Tampa Bay 6-4 - Another team with an old QB that seams to be playing over their head.

Don't want to play these guys in the First round of the playoffs tier.

10. Tennessee 6-4 - VY plays well and they loose. The plays like ass, they win. How in the hell?

9. Seattle 6-4 - I think Shauwn Alexander going down has been the best thing to happen to this team, and playing in the West. It forces Hassellquarterback into a bigger role.

8. NY Giants 7-3 - Really scary that Brandon Jacobes went down. They have good back ups, but when he plays well the Giants are a really scary team.

7. Cleveland 6-4 - Most def the team that I don't want to play in the playoffs. They seam to just know how to pull a win out of their ass.

The AFC's Playing for 2nd tier

6. Jacksonville 7-3 - David Garrard? Really? Mo-Jo is what Reggie Bush should be. They are just doing stuff right.

5. Pittsburgh 7-3 - They would have been the #2 team in the AFC if they hadn't shit the bed against the Jets. Watch out, if this team can't play the 3-4 def any better than did on sunday, they could loose really often.

4. Indianapolis 8-2 - You know, I can see this team going back to the super bowl. They can play the good guys, who are down and out, and hurt and have already been beaten down once by the Anus, then out of nowhere beat them in round 2 of the playoffs. That would be great. Except we would have to see even more of Peyton Manning.

Best of the NFC tier.

3. Green Bay 9-1 - They can't run the ball, or can they? They better win this week and then the boys better win so we can have one hell of a game next Thursday with Farve vs. Farve2.0

2. Dallas 9-1 - One thing that scares me about this Cowboy team, the running game. If Romo farts and falls down, so goes the Cowboys until they can get more out of JJ, and MB3.

The Best Ever tier

1. New England Anus 10 - 0 - They are going to do it. They are the best team ever. And nothing i can do can stop it. It sucks. I want so bad to be Tom Brady.

Stay hard!

The Brown Five - 11/20/07

The Brown Five is (what will hopefully be) a daily breakdown of five stories that Brown stumbled upon and causes his eyebrows to raise up a bit. This probably won't be daily because Brown has the attention span of a...hey look! A bicycle...

1) Lloyd Carr retires
You know, I think Carr got a bit of a bad wrap simply because he lost to Ohio State almost every year. (Not to be too much of a hypocrite, but if Texas had a coach that couldn't beat Oklahoma, I'd want his ass on the chopping block too.)

Anyway, for a coach who went 121-40 over 13 seasons with a national championship, I imagine that Carr will show up somewhere else after taking a year or so off.

The buzz now is, who does Michigan get to replace Lloyd? Kirk Ferentz? Les Miles? Bo Pellini? Jimbo Fisher? It'll be interesting.

2) That's Bulls-hit
Weren't the Bulls supposed to be a phenom this year? What's the deal? Either way, people are starting to bitch and fans are asking for the head of Scott Skiles.

I disagree. I think Skiles is okay, but if you look around the league, I'm not sure there's a lot left going on.

However, watch the desperation trade from John Paxson...Pau Gasol maybe?

3) A life sized Dirk Bobblehead
I know girls that would like this because Dirk has money. Yeah, I can't make the connection either.

I hope a buddy of mine gets this instead of a mirror.

4) Mike Vick AND Mike Tyson go to prison?
Hooray!

Vick decides to start his prison early so he might, MIGHT be able to get back into the NFL. He doesn't even know how long his sentence is going to be, but I guess he figures he can trick the media and go in now.

Tyson? Oh boy. 24 hours in jail for cocaine posession and driving under the influence. Goodness, don't remember when Tyson was on top of the world? Well, I'm glad America has decided that Tyson, Vick, Bonds, et al have not decided to stop sports love in America.

5) Break the Walls Down!
Chris. Jericho. Is. Back.

That's right, folks, one of the best mic workers is back from whatever he was doing and is going to inject some serious life into the world of professional wrestling.

Albeit with a questionable shiny vest, Jericho-Orton is a feud that's gonna be entertaining.

The Brown Five - 11/19/07

The Brown Five is (what will hopefully be) a daily breakdown of five stories that Brown stumbled upon and causes his eyebrows to raise up a bit. This probably won't be daily because Brown has the attention span of a...hey look! A bicycle...

1) College Football 2007 is unpredictable

Really, between Oregon and Oklahoma being upset, are we ready to concede picking games in the college football landscape anymore?

Whatever the BCS says week-to-week really doesn't matter because there are so many important games between now and December 2nd, that I'm not sure anyone is really aware of what is going on

However, this Saturday's Missouri-Kansas game has just become THE game to watch.

2) Minnesota Vikings front line
Adrian Peterson is a good running back. Chester Taylor is a good running back. Mewelde Moore is a serviceable running back.

All that being said, why doesn't the Minnesota offensive line being given more credit?

Think about it, with quarterbacks like Tarvaris Jackson and Brooks Bollinger, defenses can stack 8 or 9 in the box, and be just fine, yet the Vikings manage to rip off 200 yards rushing every game.

They've got good backs, sure, but it's Matt Birk and Steve Hutchinson that make things happen...after all, anyone heard from Shaun Alexander these days? Exactly.

3) Memphis Grizzlies underrated weapon
If I say the name "Mike Miller" to you, it may not ring a bell. Mike Miller might be one of the most underrated, and unknown, guys in the entire NBA.

But, if you watch a Memphis Grizzlies game, and you can get past Pau Gasol's "I fell off a boxcar" look and Rudy Gay's last name, then you'll notice another guy on the floor who probably looks more apt to be playing soccer.

That guy is Mike Miller, and if teams (ahem, Dallas) are content to leave him wide open and uncontested, he's going to drain buckets left and right.

On a lighter note, the Celtics finally lost! Hooray Dwight Howard!

4) Torii Hunter having dinner with Tom Hicks
I really don't have much to add here except to say that the last time a big time free agent had dinner at Tom Hicks's house, he was given a $250 million contract.

Damn it.

5) Jimmie Johnson won his second of back-to-back Winston/Nextel/Sprint/Piston cups.

A nation yawns.
