Guest Post, a Concert Review by our good Pal Nayfa

We love it when people send us post, blah blah blah, you know the drill.

Me, Nayfa, and a few buddies of ours went to go see one of our favorit bands last weekend, Lucero, and he pretty much naild it on what it was like, or at least what I remeber. Stupid whiskey and waters.

Oh and he speaks about the best damn golf anilyset ever, Mr. David Ferhety!

Highs and lows sprinkled with awkward moments set the tone for the weekend and what a weekend it was.

For the last month I’d been pumped to see Lucero at The Longhorn Saloon in Fort Worth. I couldn’t wait for Saturday to get here because I like the band so much. Then what I thought was going to be a great time at a rock show turned into a pseudo awkward ass whip of fairly modest proportions. Really I have no complaints; I got loaded and had a great time. (Hats off to JP for his hospitality)

As usual for shows like this, the opening act stole the show. I’m pretty sure they were called Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears or bees(ED. its bears and they are super salty)(Joe is on the right)(he is from austin)(Stop reading right now and check him out, then come back of course to finish). I’m not sure which one, which is funny to me because as badass as they were I never really cared to find out for sure. I was there to see Lucero. Anyway the lead singer of this band must have been James Brown’s illegitimate kid or something and these guys could play. It was like the Blues Brothers meets Carlton on Fresh Prince of Bellaire. It was cool but there wasn’t much edge. If you get a chance to check these guys out, do it.

As far as Lucero is concerned, it was like having sex when you’re really drunk: Sure you’re happy to be there but you’d really rather go to sleep and do it when you wake up.

(Ed. This was the second time I have seen Lucero live and both times were fucking great shows. Yea, the guy can't really sing that well (read: he sounds better on the CD) but the fans at the shows are crazy and loyal. We know every word to every song and love to just Jam out with the band. The Sex when your really drunk is probably the best anoligy I have ever heard when it comes to live show like this, or pretty much any other live show for that matter)

I was pumped to be at the show but I was tired and fairly lit. They played several new songs which is cool but I’d much rather hear the stuff I know. Whatever, the show was really good overall and I had a really good time. I think that no matter what it was going to be a letdown because I had built it up so much.

Now I’ll send it over to Gary McCord to see how David Ferhety is doing on 16.
He’s in the rough… Deep rough!

David Ferhety wrote in D magizene recently about President Bush moving to Dallas and at one point in the article he discussed meeting with the troops in Iraq. While speaking of the soldiers he made the following comment. “Despite how the conflict has been portrayed by our glorious media, if you gave any U.S. soldier a gun with two bullets in it, and he found himself in an elevator with Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Osama bin Laden, there’s a good chance that Nancy Pelosi would get shot twice, and Harry Reid and bin Laden would be strangled to death.”

That’s by far the funniest fucking thing I’ve read in a long time. Why this man is being criticized is beyond me. He should be getting some kind of comedy medal or championship belt or something.

Why Bart Scott is the coolest dude in the NFL - A Guest Post

TB&TB openly encourages reader to spit their own hot fire when it comes to HSO's. If its decent, we post it. This is from the political correspondent and friend of the blog, Nayfa, Who has brought us such rants as Danica Patrick is a skank, and why Dubya should be the next commish of baseball.

His newest obsession? Ravens Linebacker
Bart Scott

Who, Me?

Why Bart Scott is the coolest dude in the NFL .

I really don’t know who Bart Scott is. I remember something from earlier in the season with Hines Ward, the Ravens and bounties. I don’t recall Bart Scott but apparently he was involved.

It isn’t that I don’t pay attention to football; I love it and obsess about fantasy football. I just don’t give a shit about anyone but the Cowboys. Bart Scott is now the exception because of the following remarks that I read in an article on Yahoo.

“I hate everybody on every other team than mine. I don’t give a [expletive] about anybody on any other team – period. I don’t speak to them during the game. I’m not high-fiving guys. And I’m talking about guys who have been here and left, too. It doesn’t matter. You’re trying to take something away from me that I deem important. Why should I care about you? Why should I like you? You don’t have to like me, and I don’t have to like you.

“Ask me who I’m rooting for in the Super Bowl. If I’m not in it, I hope they cancel the damn thing.”

This about says it all. Thanks for the honesty and thanks for being a real football player. I’m glad to know that I’m not the only one appalled at the gay ass prayers and shit after the game. This is football Goddamn it and its high time football players hate each other like God intended.

Couldn't agree more

A friend of ours, and lead political guy, Nayfa sent me this this morning. I really don't think I could agree more.

Does anyone really care if Danica Patrick got into an argument with some shitty driver from Venezuela? Can we please stop seeing crap like this latest spat unless there are titties flying out? At least let there be hair pulling or something.

I’m not trying to be an asshole here but she’s a race car driver. Nobody gives a shit about her sport, specifically IRL. So here it is, no more Danica Patrick unless she’s naked or blowing me or something.

-Deranged in Thailand.

In case you didn't watch Sportscenter this morning, where they make this sound like Ali/Frasier, here's the video.

Fucking Skanks

Dubya? The Next Commish?

Tis the season indeed. One of the best times in sports is right now. NFL, Bowl games, NBA, NHL, College Basketball, and the hot stove season in the MLB. Recently I was at a Christmas party where, after a few drinks, the topic of the Mitchel report came up. It was pretty standard chat, but then we got onto the issue that something had to be done with baseball, and there needs to be a new commish. One of my good friends, who's opinions i actually listen to brought up a name i had never heard before, our current president George W. Bush. At first this thought was crazy to me, but the more and more he talked about it, the more and more it made since.

So i asked him to write something for the website. Explaining what "dubya" ment for Dallas's landscape to baseball, and more importantly to Arlington, a city halfway between Dallas and Fort Worth. Here is what he had to say.

Arlington, Texas, the Texas Rangers and President George W. Bush

In 1989 George W. Bush purchased a share of the Texas Rangers baseball franchise where he served as managing general partner for 5 years. During this time the Rangers and the City of Arlington agreed to build a new ballpark for the franchise. With this new ballpark the City of Arlington and the Texas Rangers hosted the 1995 All-star game and truly put Arlington on the map.

The growth of the Rangers and the construction of The Ballpark in Arlington (now known as Rangers Ballpark in Arlington) are a direct result of the efforts of George W. Bush. There were many people who worked to make sure that the Ballpark was built but the influence and affability of the future President are undeniable. As a result Arlington, Texas was to continue to thrive as a tourist destination thanks to its theme parks and brand new ballpark.

In 2009 the real legacy of George W. Bush and his role with the Texas Rangers will be realized. The Dallas Cowboys will begin playing home games in a brand new stadium in Arlington, Texas. I think it is only fair to point out how important a role President Bush indirectly played in this happening. Sure there were numerous attempts to bring the Cowboys back to Dallas but in the end Arlington is where they will call home. If not for the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington I don’t think the appeal of Arlington would have been the same.

Sure the Cowboys may very well have ended up in Arlington; after all it has a number of positives working for it. Still the Ballpark had to be the most attractive. Now in Arlington the Cowboys will have a state of the art new stadium next to one of the nicest ballparks in all of Major League Baseball. These things will in turn only help Arlington continue to thrive. With the Dallas Cowboys calling it home Arlington, Texas will now feature professional sports 9 months out of the year.

Only the future will tell what kind of legacy President George W. Bush leaves for the World. We now see what kind of legacy team owner George W. Bush has left. The Rangers have a great ballpark that brings millions of dollars in revenue each year to Arlington. The Dallas Cowboys will bring that much more. I think President George W. Bush deserves a great deal of credit for this. Like him or not his impact in Arlington, Texas is undeniably positive.

Thats the great work of our friend Nayfa.

Two big things come from that in respect to Bush and the job of Commish.

1: He has been an owner that helped create a new ballpark, meaning the owners who are trying, or will be trying to do the same thing can respect this man for what he did in the past.

2: His like-ability. Say what you want about hi job as President, the fact that he comes of as just a likable guy is without question. This is something that good ol' Bud has never been able to do.

Now I have no clue if Bush even wants to go this rout after his term is up, or even if he would be in consideration, but I do know that the idea of Dubya as the Commish of MLB, isn't that far fetched.
