Big's end of the Year Awards - TV

It's the end of the year, and despite our lack of focus on this site, we are still here, and we do still care.

We care so much in fact, that i have once again put together a list of things that you should be excited about, the End of the Year Awards from yours truly, Big.

Today we start with TV

We did this last year as well.

Cable TV. How great are thee. With your channels more than three, and such great picture quality. Its easy to see, that without you I would be, a more contributing person to society.

It was a so-so year for TV in my book. Had some new stuff that was decent, alot of crap again, but that's to be expected. On to the awards

Best Animated TV Show : The Cleveland Show (Last year, Family Guy)



I understand a lot of people don't like Seth McFarland (Cleveland Show, Family Guy, American Dad), whether it be because his predictable formula for shows (Stupid fat dad, Hot Wife, Kid who is smarter than his age, talking animal), but his humor (which seams to be a mix of pop-culcher references, slap stick, and shock jock) is right up my ally.

Just a quick aside, This season of South Parks was their best in years. Whale Whores, and Go Home Fags, were quick possibly the best stuff they have done in a decade.

Runners up : South Park, Family Guy, Simpsons.

Best Comedy: Tie, Better off Ted and The League. (Last Year: How I Met Your Mother)

Better off Ted


A show that I got into in the early part of this year, about a guy working for a product development big business. There are always 3 or 4 audible laugh moments each week. Glad they brought it back.

The League


Let see, I'm a sports dork with a soft side for Fantasy Football and "Guy" humor. Yea, I liked the league a lot.

Runner Up: Scrubs, Always Sunny, Psych.

Best Drama: Son's of Anarchy(last year SOA)



Might have moved into the top 5 shows of all time in my list with this last season. (Top five right now in no order Simpsons, The Wire, Sports Night, FNL, SOA/Sheild).

Come on, it had Henry freakin' Rollins as a white surprimisest. Greatness.

Runners Up: True Blood, Lie to Me, Friday Night Lights.

Best Reality Show (None)

I will say, the 30 for 30 Docu's on ESPN have been fantastic. As was the WWII in HD the history channel did.

Best New Show I'm sure will get canceled soon. Modern Family (Last year: True Blood)

Modern Family


Its good. The gay guys are funny, Al Bundy is great, and the "hip" dad always steals a segment or two every episode.

Big, in madmen

Do it youself,here. Of course I couldn't do anything about madmen without some picks of my newest Muse, Christina Hendricks.

South Park wins the title for most genius mainstream cartoon

"The Simpsons" is great, but is kind the old school player. They can bring the heat if they need to, but everyone knows they're the king, and just accepts it. Kind of like Shawn Michaels.

"Family Guy" is the new kid on the block who's captured everyone's hearts and is great doing what it does. Kind of like John Cena.

"South Park" however. "South Park" is the one that keeps going away so you kind of forget about it, but then it comes back with such jaw rattling fury you realize, it's always been the king. Kind of like The Undertaker.

If you didnt see "South Park" last night (if not, see it here.) You missed Trey Parker's and Matt Stone's giant middle finger to America's darling, Disney. The Jonas Brother, Grey's Anatomy (on ABC - owned by Disney), and Mickey Mouse were pretty much torn a gigantic new ass hole.

I stand up and salute you, "South Park".

I did watch more TV this year than I have in the past couple because of the fact I could afford Cable, and one with a DVR to boot. No longer do I have to choose to either play video games or watch TV! America is great! Here are my tops for the year.

Animated Show : Family Guy.



Haven't you heard about the Word? I'm sure its no surprise that a couple of juvenile joker like us love the greatness that is Family Guy. While I will always be a Simpson's fan at heart, I found myself laughing more at Family guy this year than Homer and the crew.

How I Met Your Mother



I don't think any other show on TV has hit the late 20 early 30's market better than this one. They live just like us, only much more wealthy and funny! The show is made by Neal Patrick Harris's part of Barny Stinson, a suited up ladies man. We all have that friend in our group, who is still all about getting ass, while others are looking for relationships. Its funny cuz its true!

I'm not into lost, Friday Night Lights is only showing on Direct TV till the new year, I missed last years Shield because i didn't have cable so i am waiting for the DVD's, so i guess what I'm saying is I really didn't watch a lot of drama's they year. At least not alot of good ones. But SOA is an exception. I'm pretty sure SOA never stayed on my DVR longer than a day or so. It was first available 45 that I had, I was watching that show. Bikers, Morality, Crazyness...sign me up!

Because of this show, brown and I are starting a Motorcycle gang, called the Burn Cycle (don't ask about the name, its a long story), despite the fact that nether of us have Bikes, or are very scary at all.

I despise Reality shows. I wish they would all go away. That said, I will get suckered into watching American Idol a few times, and late night reruns of Real World bullshit on MTV. I know it sucks, but I can't help it.

On a side note, everybody needs to help me convince brown to submit a tape for the casting of "the greatest race." How funny would it be to have your favorite blogers rock that show! You know who would win if that happened? America that's who.

True Blood



This is one of those shows that I really like, but I can completely understand if nobody else does. Its about Vampires, which is one strike against it for most people, but the way the show is put together is entertaining, if not always logical. One really good reason is to watch is that its got lots of Nudity, including Anna Paquin (who played Rouge in XMen). Very good stuff.

Whats up Austin!

So this post is for people in Austin who need to make a little cash, or fans of the best show on TV, Friday Night Lights. I'm not going all Bill Simmons on you and gush how you should be watching this show or the terrorists win, but its a damn good show, and anybody that I have met that has sat down and watched 2 episodes, agreed its one of the better shows to come out in a long time.

So i have a buddy of mine, that works "in the biz." He has done some movie work, working behind the scenes and what have not, and currently he is working on FNL in the casting department. They are shooting the big Championship game this weekend and has asked if we would try and help him get people down there for it. You get to be a part of the show, free food, and some cash to boot! here is the details.

"Friday Night Lights is shooting the State Championship game for the Dillon Panthers. Extras are needed beginning at 1:00pm on both Friday and Saturday, the shoot could go as late as 10:00pm so you should plan for the whole day. There will be prizes raffled off, you will be given a lunch and snacks throughout the day and at the end of it all you get paid $56 per day. Not to mention you will see actual football played and also get to see your favorite FNL cast members at work.

The game takes place this weekend at the DKR in Austin TX, home of the TX longhorns.

As another side bar, I got to meet the actor who players "Buddy Garrity" last year at a football game, and he is just as proud of the show as anybody, and was extremely welcoming and nice.
