Wrestlemania Thoughts and a GMV

I know, I know, we have been back in town for a few days and not posted anything about the much ballyhooed blog trip to Wrestlemania 25, and I'm sure all you sexy readers are all wondering just what the whole trip was like.

Did we play wrestlemania bingo?

Did we meet any famous people?

Do we do cocaine off a strippers ass with Mikey Rorke?

Well, yes, yes, and ohh dear lord yes.

Let me give you some of my thoughts on what went down this last weekend. Over all I would like to point out that this trip was as hyped in my mind as any I have taken in the last couple of years. It was with 3 great friends, to a fun city, in a nice hotel, for an event I really wanted to witness. So even with all that hype, the trip was truly great.

Here are some highlights. We pretty much submersed ourselves in all things wrestling. We watched old Wrestlemania's in the hotel, met other wrestling fans in on the street, made wrestling signs like the one you saw on Bear's post, and so on. We even shelled out some money to go to the WWE fan Access on Saturday.

Now Access is a fan event held every year by WWE during Wrestlemania week and its kind of a "lets give back to the fans" bit that is truly geared toward kids and uber "its still real to me dammit" fans. We got to see some dark matches(matches not shown on TV), look at Wrestlemania artifacts, see old championship belts, they even had a thing where you could record your own entrance, or call a famous match from a pretend booth. We didn't do the last two because the line's were way, way to long, but we had fun none the less.

The main attraction at Access was meeting your favorite WWE superstars. They had about 4 or 5 locations, where if you waited in line, you got to meet 2 WWE people and shake hands and get an autograph. After walking around for a bit, we saw that at one place, the wrestlers were about to change, so not knowing who was going to take there place, we jumped in line. Turned out to be Ron Simmons and Maria.





Two things about this whole ordeal that I would like to point out. One: Maria is good looking yes, and she was in playboy last year, which made for a kind of awkward hand shaking as all you could think about in your mind was her naked, and what shameful things you have done to yourself while looking at her pics. Ohh while she is most def good looking, she isn't as "damn your hot" as you might think. We all agreed that we knew girls who were just as good looking as she was, and alot less orange.

Two: It was in this line that we saw the most die hard fan of the whole weekend. There was this guy, probably pushing 300 to 350lbs, wearing a sleeveless wwe t-shirt, and his whole left arm was covered in Autograph tats. Upon closer look we knoticed the names John Cena and Golddust. Yup, this guys arm was covered in tats, including 3 or 4 fresh ones that couldn't have been done but a day ago, of wrestlers autographs. Now that's a fan.

As to not make this post take up the entire first page of our blog, I'm going to break up the wrestlemaina experience into a two peicer, the other one coming sometime later today I hope.

Wrestlemania 25 From the Eyes of a Casual Fan

I’m sure you’re already tired of reading my posts. I was thinking of doing this in my Championship acceptance speech but I think it warrants its own posting. As all of you know, myself, Big, Brown and El Blogador attended Professional Wrestling’s greatest spectacle this weekend by attending Wrestlemania 25. I’m not a fan like Big, Brown and Blogador are. I used to watch religiously back in high school but just sort of grew out of it, or so I thought. Well last year Big and Brown accepted me into watching it with them at a time I just needed out of my house. Lately I’ve tried to make it a point to watch it with them, but if we don’t all get together to watch I’m usually at the gym, or watching Chuck and Heroes. But there’s something to be said for attending one of these events, witnessing it live and right in front of you. If you’re looking for a breakdown of the match’s, or to talk about how many mullets we saw, or David Carr jerseys, I’ll leave that to Big and Brown.

Anyways, so when Brown got tickets to Wrestlemania 25 I was on the fence about going because A. How am I going to pay for this? And B. Am I a fan enough to enjoy this? Once I was able to pay for it I just figured I’m going to go down with no expectations and just enjoy the weekend. Well I was truly blown away. It was a great time, and I have a great lasting impression from being there. I tell everyone that even if you don’t like professional wrestling because you know it’s fake, or you think it’s childish, or beneath you, I say GO, GO, GO! It’s an amazing experience and just being there, surrounded by all the fans that come from all over the world to see this and feeling their energy during each match, this was one of the best events I’ve ever been to. It’s entertainment people… and damn they know how to entertain.

No, we’re not taking the week off

We’re just recovering from an awesome Wrestlemania weekend that saw one of the greatest matches in the history of pro wrestling, the invention of a brand new song about Mexican food and the witnessing of Big seemingly go brain dead.

While we’re in recovery, I wanted to point out that Bear did indeed win the Bracket Challenge that we held.  I was second, Big was third, and Dorsey was fourth.

GMV - The Bear

Tired of wrestling yet? I hope not, because with us this year, making his first wrestling event as a spectator, our picnic basket loving friend, Bear, is making his way to H-town.

I say first as a spectator because, unbenonst to me until a few min ago, Bear is no stranger to the squared circle. As a matter of fact, he was a full fledged wrestler back in the day under the name of Victor.

GMV - Wrestlemania Week - The Nacho Matches

Wrestlemania week continues! I'm sure we are going to do a full blow preview of the damn thing sometime later this week, but as with every live wrestling event, there are going to be some "meh" matches on Sunday, matches that you choose to skip in order to hit up the concession stands, or as I like to call them, Nacho matches.

The First of which probably isn't a true Nacho match, due to the nip slip possibility, but i can't put it as one that's must see either. I'm talking of course about the 25 Diva Battle Royal.



The only other true Nacho Match might be JBL vs. Ray Mysterio, but as much as JBL blows in the ring, Mysterio is always worth watching, so I guess the only other nacho matches will be the Music performances of Kidd Rock and that Chick from the Pussy Cat Dolls, Nicole slutsalot or something.

GMV - Welcome to Wrestlemania Week

We have made no secrets that we here at TB&TB are going on a little field trip this weekend, to the land of the screwed up tape, Paul wall, Webster slaughter and the sight of wrestlemania 25, Houston Texas.

So consider this your "welcome to wrestlmania week" post, because I'm pretty sure my wrestling hard on won't go away all week.

We start with a recap of wrestlmania X7. Why 17? Well I'm glad you asked. First it was arguably one of the best Mania's of the last 15 years, Stone Cold vs the Rock, tag team TLC (tables, ladders, and chairs) match, a gimmick rumble, Benoit vs. Angle, and HHH vs the Undertaker. The Card was just nuts. Plus it was the last time Wrestlemania was in Houston, and guess what, your portly pal and suntanned superman were there. If you catch a shot of the "titian tron" and look above it, those little specks that you think to yourself "surly they didn't put seats up there," that's where we sat.

And I know it had Limp Bizkit as the back track, but to be honest, it fits well with the time.
